After a series of extremely well-received screenings and the build-up of buzz from premieres at Cannes and the Los Angeles Film Festival, "Drive" is turning out to be one of the most hotly anticipated movies of awards season. It comes from "Bronson" director Nicolas Winding Refn and stars Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Ron Perlman, and has all the makings of Oscar gold.
MTV News has an exclusive clip from the upcoming movie that shows a tense but tender scene between Gosling and Mulligan. There's no dialogue in the clip, and that's because there doesn't need to be. Gosling's character Driver notices that the man next to him is holding a gun, and instead of creating a confrontation with him, he moves Mulligan's Irene safely behind him and shares a passionate kiss with her.
It doesn't give away much, but the clip certainly is a tease for the violent drama.
Unless you're attending "Drive's" screening at the Toronto International Film Festival or have already seen the movie, the flick will hit theaters on September 16. Until then, there's a great new trailer that was just released and two new clips that have hit the web. And of course there's that surprisingly pretty poster that debuted earlier this month.
"Drive" follows a man named Driver who is a stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night. He ends up falling for his new neighbor Irene, but discovers that she has a bit of a troubled past. Her ex-convict husband Standard returns to her life, and Driver decides to take part in a dangerous heist to pay off Standard and keep him out of Irene's life forever. That plan spins wildly out of control, and Driver needs to switch from the defensive to the offensive to save the girl he loves.
