Whether he was lamenting his impossibly far (yet dreadfully close) lover on seedy Fleet Street, or making a name for himself as a cunning and ruthless sorcerer in the wizarding world, there's no question about it: Jamie Campbell Bower has been busy.
The actor's about to get a whole lot busier, too. Campbell Bower, dubbed The Next Johnny Depp of the New Class, has already appeared in two of the biggest franchises of recent memory, and he's on the cusp of adding a third in the form of "Mortal Instruments."

Singing in the Bloody Rain
Coincidence or fate? Jamie's breakout role is truly ironic given his New Class superlative: the actor broke onto the scene opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street," bringing a fresh-faced and youthful approach to lovelorn traveler Anthony. In one of his earliest screen appearances, Jamie showed that he doesn't just have the long locks of a rock star, but can belt out soulful tunes like "Johanna" with ease ? definitely a skill to keep an eye on.
Maintaining Anonymity
Jamie's career is about to take an interesting turn when he shows up in "Anonymous" this fall. The actor stars in "Independence Day" director Roland Emmerich's period piece political thriller that paints William Shakespeare as a fraud. Jamie plays a younger version of the Earl of Oxford, the film's central character most often played by "Spider-Man" bad guy Rhys Ifans.
"Potter" versus "Twilight"
If you're a fan of "Harry Potter" or "Twilight," then you already know that Jamie has roles in both properties. He appeared extremely briefly in the two-part "Deathly Hallows" as Gellert Grindelwald, one of Albus Dumbledore's most notorious nemeses and arguably one of the most interesting and unexplored characters from J.K. Rowling's novels. In the realm of "Twilight," Jamie plays Caius, one of the three ancient leaders of the Volturi, a group of civilized vampires who prove to be not-too-civilized in their approach to Bella Swan's controversial pregnancy.
The Future is "Mortal"
Though he's already dipped his toes into the franchise pool, Jamie and his fans haven't seen anything yet: his biggest break of them all appears to be the upcoming "Mortal Instruments," director Scott Charles Stewart's adaptation of the popular young adult novel series written by Cassandra Clare. "Mortal Instruments" pulls the curtain back on a secret magical world unknown to most mortals, a world where demon-hunting human-angel hybrids called Shadowhunters exist. Jamie will play one such Shadowhunter, the arrogant but alluring Jace Wayland.
