Exclusive: 'Battleship' Art Premiering At WonderCon

"Battleship" might not be charging into theaters until May 18, but fans lucky enough to be attending WonderCon in Anaheim, Calif. this weekend will be in for a treat. In addition to Universal hosting a panel showcasing the film, director Peter Berg and star Brooklyn Decker will be signing exclusive artwork for the movie designed by comics artist Jock.

MTV News has an exclusive first look at the poster that shows off "Battleship's" alien villains. We don't know too much about the extraterrestrials, but they look pretty intimidating right here and now. And, as Jock worked as a concept designer on the film, it seems safe to say that this version is a good representation of what we'll be seeing on the big screen.

When MTV caught up with director Peter Berg recently, he said that making "Battleship" was something of a dream come true, as he'd always wanted to do a "big movie." But, beyond that, this film strikes close to home for him.

"I've been trying to do a movie set in the water for a long time. My dad was a naval historian, he used to drag me to every Navy museum in the world, anywhere we could go," Berg said. "I've always wanted to do a movie about the Navy."

There was no mention in there of anything to do with the aliens, though. Hopefully he, Decker and Alexander Skarsgard will be a bit more liberal in their discussion of the extraterrestrials during their panel at WonderCon as they've come to the forefront in a lot of the movie's recent marketing. But we likely won't find out who those aliens are and what they're doing invading Earth until the film comes out on May 18. And we'd be lying if we said we weren't looking forward to that.
