Life has been busy for Daniel Radcliffe, as usual, but soon he's hopefully looking forward to some time off before starting his next project, "Kill Your Darlings."
MTV News spoke with the actor while he was promoting his new film "The Woman in Black," which would lead into a small break from work for Radcliffe. "It would hopefully be that I would definitely have three weeks off in February," he said. "And then shortly after that I would be hopefully making a film again."
Radcliffe spoke about the prospects of his next project before the details of "Kill Your Darlings" had been locked down. During the interview, he spoke hypothetically about the idea of filming in the U.S. for the first time. "It would hopefully be over here as well, because that would be an entirely new experience. I've never filmed in America," he said. "I'd really like to do that, work with an American crew and have that different experience."
The way he sees his 2012 going, Radcliffe hopes to focus on films after stepping away from his Broadway performance in "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," but eventually making a return to the stage. "I'm hoping to make this year just about film, film, film. Then maybe get back on stage in the next two years," he said.
At the time, Radcliffe wouldn't talk about "Kill Your Darlings" as a sure thing yet, describing his involvement as "closer and getting closer every day but not anything confirmed yet, unfortunately."
He did speak about his excitement for the project, which will find him playing legendary poet Allen Ginsberg, opposite Elizabeth Olsen, "Chronicle"'s Dane DeHaan and Jack Huston from "Boardwalk Empire."
"It would be amazing, and I am very, very enthused for that script and that young director, but it's an independent film now," Radcliffe said of "Kill Your Darlings" and its director John Krokidas. "It's welcome to the world of independent films. From one day to the next, it could happen or not happen. Until I'm there on the set, I'm not going to say anything about it."
