Ridley Scott could soon become a very busy man. In addition to developing a sequel to "Blade Runner," the "Prometheus" director is eying two other big budget projects that he could potentially helm over the next year.
The first film on his docket is a biopic about Gertrude Bell appropriately titled "Gertrude Bell." The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Angelina Jolie is poised to star in the film, though the deal hasn't been finalized yet. It would be her first live action film since 2010's "The Tourist," and would align with her own interest in international policy.
Also on Scott's list of potential projects is a movie that could star Gerard Butler.
Butler has switched gears from romcoms to action films over the past few years, and this next flick aligns itself with that continued trend. Deadline is reporting that Butler and Scott are planning to make a biopic about Simon Mann, a former British army officer who planned a coup against the president of Equatorial Guinea. It ended up being thwarted in Zimbabwe where Mann spent five years in prison.
Mann and his wife Amanda have been shopping the story around Hollywood for a while now, but Scott was the director who finally bit. In addition to the three films previously mentioned, Scott is also still planning on filming "Gucci," a flick focusing on the volatile relationship between Maurizio Gucci and his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani. That flick could potentially star Natalie Portman.
