'Dragon Tattoo' Clips: When Blomkvist Met Salander

by Lauren Kearney

It?s time to turn off the Christmas music and put down your credit cards: "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" hits theaters today. And you need to check it out, not least before MTV named it the best movie of 2011. But if a trip to the movies doesn?t seem to be in the cards today, don?t worry. We?ve got a few clips to keep you up to speed.

In this first clip, Mikael Blomkvist first meets Lisbeth Salander. Blomkvist gives Salander a run for her money, after barging into her apartment and interrupting a hookup session (awkward), crossing boundaries that Salander does not take well.

Here you get an up-close-and-personal meeting with Salander, who despite her "different" appearance is considered the best investigator. She walks in, clad in leather, gauges and a mohawk, blunt with an "I don't give a s--t" attitude, basically telling her boss how it is. It gives you a little idea of who you'll be dealing with throughout the movie.

During Blomkvist's first meeting with Henrik Vanger, the old man gives the journalist a clue about the investigation upon which he's about to embark. Vanger shows him his display of framed flowers he has collected over the years, the first bunch from his niece and the rest, he assumes, from the person who murdered her.

Salander is an investigative genius, able to dig up dirt in you that no one but your own mother would know. In this clip, Blomkvist confronts Salander?s boss, Dragan Armansky, and asks how Salander was able to find out certain information about him and why none of her information is on file, threatening him with a law suit. Armansky reveals that she is a warden of the state and asks him not to make her life any harder than it already is.
