'Wrath Of The Titans' Trailer: Hell Comes To Earth

Sam Worthington, prepare to suffer the "Wrath of the Titans."

The "Avatar" actor is back as Perseus in the "Titans" sequel, which he promised will be better than the first outing in the series. Today's release of the "Wrath" trailer has left us feeling confident that the sequel will live up to Worthington's hype.

The film takes place a decade after "Clash," where Perseus is living a quieter life with his 10-year-old son Helius as a fisherman. But all that changes when Zeus comes to him for help after he discovers that Hades and Ares have plotted with the leader of the Titans, Kronos, to capture Zeus and bring him to the underworld. As Zeus loses the battle for supremacy, the Titans are unleashed and bring about hell on earth.

Enter Rosamund Pike as Queen Andromeda, reprising her role as the love interest for Perseus based on all the smooching in the trailer. She teams up with the demi-god, as well as Poseidon's half-human son Argenor and the fallen god Hephaestus, to try to stop the Titans and bring peace back to the world.

The action sequences look really, really good in this trailer, but that's not always a guarantee that the movie will be better than its predecessor. The action and CGI looked great in the "Clash of the Titans" trailer as well, but didn't work as well in the flick as a whole. Still, that final shot of a flaming monster -- we're guessing a Titan -- flailing around from the ground looks freaking awesome. And we're definitely suckers for that brief appearance of Cyclops at the beginning of the trailer.

Only time will tell whether "Wrath" will be any better than "Clash" was, but so far our hopes are raised. The film hits theaters on March 30, 2012.
