Next year will be a great one for films. The blockbusters alone have us with too many movies to be looking forward to. With epic superhero flicks, returns to old franchises and the ending of others, we are in for a real treat next year.
But we need your help. We want to know what movie you can't wait to see next year. Vote in the poll below to help decide which is the film to beat next year.
"The Dark Knight Rises"
According to both Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan, this is going to be it for their take on Batman, so enjoy it while it lasts. With so much talk about how "Rises" will tie up loose ends and bring the series to a close, we need answers and won't be satisfied until we get them. Will Batman live? Is Catwoman good or evil? What the hell did Bane just say?
"The Hunger Games"
The adaptation of the best-selling young adult book put together an impressive trailer that had even people who weren't familiar with the story begging for more. In the movie, Jennifer Lawrence leads a great ensemble cast as Katniss, the girl picked to fight for her life in a sadistic fight to death with other teenagers.
It's an "Alien" prequel. It's not an "Alien" prequel. It looks a hell of a lot like an "Alien" prequel. Whatever it is, "Prometheus" has our attention not only because it marks Ridley Scott's return to the sci-fi genre he defined, but because an amazing cast and a script by "Lost" creator Damon Lindelof are not things to ignore.
What do you get when you put Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and Captain America in the same movie? We're going to find out this May, when the promises of five Marvel superhero movies finally pay off and we get the comic movie to end all comic book movies. Just on paper, you have to wonder how they could possibly screw this one up.
"The Amazing Spider-Man"
It's only been four years since the last Spider-Man film, but the web-slinger is getting the reboot treatment this summer with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Once again, we're going back to the origin of Spider-Man, but this time he's facing off against Curt Connors aka The Lizard.
So far we've only seen one photo from Tim Burton's adaptation of the cult classic supernatural soap opera, but that's been more than enough to hook us. Johnny Depp transforms himself once again, this time playing the vampire patriarch of an extraordinary family.
"Snow White and the Huntsman"
One of the two Snow White movies hitting theaters next year, "Snow White and the Huntsman" takes more than a little inspiration from "The Lord of the Rings" for its take on the classic fairy tale. Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth star as the two title characters who have to face off against Charlize Theron's evil queen.
"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2"
Fans crammed into the theaters in November to catch the first half of the epic finale to the "Twilight Saga," and you can bet that even more of you will go to see how it all ends, but does it have enough to beat the competition for most anticipated of 2012?
"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey"
More than ten years after "The Fellowship of the Ring," Peter Jackson is returning to Middle Earth to tell the story of how it all started. "An Unexpected Journey" will be the first of two "Hobbit" movies, and some familiar faces from "The Lord of the Rings" are guaranteed to show up, including Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom.
So maybe "Quantum of Solace" wasn't your cup of tea. Daniel Craig has come out and said that the last Bond movie wasn't everything it could be, but all of that is ancient history. Bond is back with a stand alone story and a cast, including Javier Bardem and Ralph Finnes, that is more than enough to bring us back.
