Don?t fret ?Fringe? fans! As the show enters its final season this fall comes word that the Science Channel will air the show in syndication. The two universes will live on!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Science Channel has bought off-network syndication rights to the Fox sci-fi drama, meaning that Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the show, can offer up more syndication rights to a streaming service as well. With season five premiering this fall, the news breathes new life into the low-rated, but much-loved show.
The deal makes sense given that in this fifth season the show will reach the 100-episode mark making it ripe for syndication. The final season has a 13-episode order. On the Science Channel the show will be in good company joining Rickey Gervais? travel series, ?An Idiot Abroad,? as well as Nathan Fillion?s own cult drama, ?Firefly.? In addition, "Fringe" star John Noble hosts the network's "Dark Matters: Twisted But True," a six-part documentary series. It looks to us like "Fringe" and Science Channel will be fast friends.
As for the last season of ?Fringe,? show co-creator J.J. Abrams said in a recent statement, "We are thrilled and beyond grateful that Fox ? and our fans ? have made the impossible possible: 'Fringe' will continue into a fifth season that will allow the series to conclude in a wild and thrilling way. All of us at Bad Robot are forever indebted to our viewers and the amazingly supportive Fox network for allowing the adventures of Fringe Division to not only continue, but to resolve in a way that perfectly fits the show."
