Beyonce May Star In Ryan Murphy Flick 'One Hit Wonders'

As Beyonc settles into the role of motherhood, she's attached to another role ? this one for the big screen. The pop singer is reportedly in talks to join Ryan Murphy's latest flick.

Billed as "One Hit Wonders," the film would be a musical comedy that could potentially star B's pal Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz and "Saturday Night Live" star Andy Samberg.

The film would follow Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz as pop stars who hit it big in the '90s as ? you guessed it ? one-hit wonders. In order to gain back some of the pop-star recognition they once had, the ladies join forces and form a supergroup. Samberg and his Lonely Island team would be involved in coming up with the movie's songs. Beyonc's role is still unknown.

The "Glee" creator would direct and co-write the screenplay with his frequent collaborators, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. He's expected to begin work on it after his big-screen adaptation of the play "The Normal Heart." Deadline reports that the film's idea came after Paltrow, Witherspoon and Diaz dined with Murphy at New York hotspot Soho House and they all wanted to work on a fun project together. The pitch to Sony Pictures chief Amy Pascal was reportedly scooped up in 10 minutes. Deals are currently being worked out.

MTV News' email to Murphy's rep had not been returned by press time.

Regardless of how this film shakes out, Beyonc is reportedly already thinking about her music career again. Producer Ryan Tedder shared that the singer is prepping several follow-up albums to 2011's 4.

"The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening. All I can say is, you kind of feed her the best that you have, and she's this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in." One of those albums may be the soundtrack for the upcoming Clint Eastwood film "A Star Is Born," which the singer is also attached to star in.

Lady Gaga Enlists Oprah Winfrey For Foundation Launch

When Lady Gaga officially launches her Born This Way Foundation on February 29, she'll be joined by the one-time queen of daytime TV, Oprah Winfrey.

The singer and former talk-show host will be joined by Mother Monster's own mother, Cynthia Germanotta, at the Harvard University event to kick off the foundation, which aims to inspire young people. The affair will be captured for a future episode of "Oprah's Next Chapter" on her OWN network.

"My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation," Gaga said in a statement last November about the foundation, which takes its name from her hit single and album. "Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment."

The foundation will work with a number of partners, including the John D. & Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University. According to the statement, the foundation will focus on "youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change."

"My daughter's foundation was born out of her passion to create a better world where people are kinder and nicer to one another and are accepted for who they are, regardless of how different they may be," Mama Germanotta said. "She has experienced many of the struggles that our youth encounter today, and identifies with the lasting effects they can have without proper support. Together, we look forward to creating a new movement that will engage and empower youth and accept them as valuable members of our society."

NextMovie's Oscar Picks: Best Picture And Director

There are only two days left until the 2012 Academy Awards kick off, which means that the frantic last-minute Oscar predictions have begun. MTV Movies and our friends over at NextMovie have been putting our heads together to talk about who we expect to win big at this year's ceremony, and today the last two videos for our informed guesses for Best Picture and Best Director have been revealed.

Unsurprisingly, it seems like "The Artist" is the front-runner in both categories. The little film that could has been both a critical darling and well-received by the public (at least for a black and white silent movie about a silent film star), and it seems fair to assume that it will take home the major Best Picture and Best Director statues as well.

But that's not to say "The Artist" is the film that most deserves the Oscar gold. Click on after the jump to see what other films MTV Movies' Josh Horowitz and NextMovie's Kevin Polowy have to say about who got snubbed and who might be the dark horse winner.

Considering MTV Movies Blog has run a feature on the movies we think should have had that tenth Best Picture nomination, it should come as no surprise that there were a fair number of movies Horowitz and Polowy thought were snubbed this year. Where were "Drive," "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "Bridesmaids" when you need them?

As for the Best Director category, the one major snub that Horowitz and Polowy both agreed on was David Fincher for "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." I still stand by the argument that he was the most deserving candidate for the Oscar last year, though he ultimately lost to "The King's Speech's" Tom Hooper, so to not even score a nom is a double slight against the master of suspense. And though the Best Director statuette seems like it's Michael Hazanavicius' to lose, the MTV duo predict that Martin Scorsese might not be ruled out of the race just yet for the amazing work he did on "Hugo."

The MTV Movies team has the 2012 Oscars covered! Stick with us for everything you need to know leading up to the awards show, and on Sunday, February 26, tune into MTV.com at 5:30 p.m. ET for our three-hour red-carpet live stream and updates on the night's big winners.

Oscar Winners: 20 Years Of Best Picture Box-Office Rankings

If the 2012 Oscars unfold as expected Sunday night, "The Artist" will walk away with a Best Picture win at the close of the ceremony. With that triumph, the silent, black-and-white film will become the second lowest-growing Best Picture winner in modern history. A populist fave, this movie is not.

And that's often the case. While box-office record-breaker "Titanic" took home the Academy's top honor in 1998, the Best Picture ranks are littered with ho-hum performers. Some, like "Schindler's List" and "Million Dollar Baby," received huge bumps from their wins. "The Silence of the Lambs," which hit theaters in February 1991, received no bump at all, as it was already out of theaters. Yet others received small re-releases and added a few million to their totals.

To put the likely "Artist" win in historical context, MTV News took a look back at the past 20 years of Best Picture winners, ranking them from lowest to highest grossing (all figures come from Box Office Mojo and are not adjusted for inflation or ticket price).

Jon Hamm Asks Jennifer Aniston And Paul Rudd How They 'Do It'

"How do you do it? How do you do it?"

That is the one question Jon Hamm had for "Wanderlust" stars Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd during Wednesday's MTV First. But the real question is what exactly did Hamm -- who had recorded the question in a video while he was in London to present an award at the BAFTAs -- actually mean by "it"? Aniston certainly seemed puzzled by it, but Rudd took the whole thing in stride and actually gave a pretty good (albeit bluffed) answer.

"I've known Jon longer than I've known Jen, and I can tell you it's no surprise he has that kind of time on his hands," Rudd responded. "Well, Jon, how I do it is a heavy diet of laughter, single malt scotch, love, methamphetamines, an arsenal of weaponry and a heavy, heavy dose of hatred for all groups different than myself."

Aniston's response was a bit more collected -- "I have a healthy TiVoed dose of 'Mad Men,' it gets me through the week" -- but it still was clear that neither actor had any idea what Hamm was really asking with, "How do you do it?" To be honest, neither do I, but here are a few suggestions for what he could have meant.

It could have been, "How do you do sexy all the time?" This one would be pegged to Rudd (of course) and the correct answer would be, "By being inspired by Don Draper every morning when I get dressed."

Or maybe it was supposed to be, "How do you do think you can do sex scenes in movies when I clearly took that cake in 'Bridesmaids'?" Aniston would answer this one by saying, "Because I get naked in this film, of course."

But in all likelihood, the question probably was, "How do you deal with the fact that you aren't as cool as me?" And the only answer for that would be, "No one can deal with that."

Do you wish Jon Hamm sent you cryptic video messages like this? We sure do! Tell us what you thought of the above video in the comments section below or on Twitter!

Taylor Swift Invites New Jersey Teen To ACM Awards

Taylor Swift has asked a fan to be her date to an awards show, and it all started on Facebook.

Less than 24 hours after the sister of a leukemia-stricken New Jersey teen made a plea to the country star in an online video, Swift responded via her official Facebook page.

"Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom," she wrote. "But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up... Would you be my date?"

Swift's camp confirmed to MTV News that the Facebook post is legit.

Kevin McGuire, an 18-year-old high school football star, has his sister to thank for the invitation. Looking for ways to support her brother as he underwent treatment for a relapse of the disease he was diagnosed with five years ago, Tori McGuire set up the "Taylor Swift Take Kevin McGuire to Prom!" Facebook page, which had nearly 100,000 followers at press time. The Twitter hashtag #TeamKevin had gotten the attention of a number of celebrities, including Perez Hilton, Travie McCoy, Michael Vick and Troy Aikman.

"All throughout Kevin's treatment he kept his character intact, remained playing basketball, and even started varsity football as a freshman," she wrote on the Facebook page. "Kevin is known throughout the community as the High school's 'real life SUPER MAN!' Tragically, Kevin had a relapse, and is now fighting cancer for the second time. Kevin is the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting, and throughout his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned 'why me?' Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift. Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life."

MTV News spoke with Tori on Friday (February 24) after Taylor had invited her brother to go to the ACM Awards. So where was she when the big news broke? "I was actually getting ready to make a YouTube video to go out to Taylor, so that didn't happen!" she laughed. "I was so excited and I just rushed to the hospital to be with my brother. I didn't get to tell him, but when I got here, he just gave me a big hug and he just had no words."

After Kevin had processed the news, he spoke with USA Today about his upcoming dream date. "Obviously I said yes," he told the paper, adding that the awards show "is a lot better than the senior prom."

Comments quickly flooded Swift's post and new remarks appeared on McGuire's Facebook page as well.

"Congrats! The ACMs are way better than the prom!" wrote Connie Spross, a supporter.

The 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards are scheduled to take place Sunday, April 1, in Las Vegas. Swift is nominated for several awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year.

What do you think of Taylor's response to Kevin? Let us know in the comments!

'Wanderlust,' 'Act Of Valor,' And More: Double Feature Friday!

If one movie is never enough for you and you're looking for a flick to get you in the mood for this week's new release, Double Feature Friday is here to help. Every week we break down the new releases and pair them with older movies that you should catch before heading out to the theater. Or just skip the new movie and check out the classic we recommend.

"Wanderlust" & "Martha Marcy May Marlene"
Compared side-by-side, Justin Theroux's Seth in "Wanderlust" and John Hawkes' Patrick in "Martha Marcy May Marlene" may not look that different. These charismatic leaders of their respective communities welcome new members to their tight-knit, alternative families with songs on guitar and soft-spoken charm. That's about where the similarities end. Seth leads a free-living commune, while Patrick heads a dangerous cult. The similarities and differences here make quite the pairing, and with "Martha Marcy May Marlene" coming out on video this past week, there's never been a better time to check it out if you missed it in theaters.

"Act of Valor" & "Commando"
In "Actor of Valor," real Navy SEALs bring an ultra-realistic vision of modern war to the big screen. In "Commando," Arnold Schwarzenegger rips the front seat out of a car and eats Green Berets for breakfast. The only way to properly prepare yourself for the real deal is to enjoy the ridiculous opposite end of the spectrum. Schwarzenegger may not have been a real life soldier, but he's the muscle-bound, Speedo-wearing ideal we should all strive to be.

"Good Deeds" & "Good Will Hunting"
The title "Good Deeds" makes enough sense without knowing that Tyler Perry's character is named Wesley Deeds, ("OH, GOOD DEEDS! I GET IT!") but the title of the Matt Damon and Ben Affleck-penned drama barely makes sense without knowing connecting it to Will's name. "Good Will Hunting" still plays well all these years later, and there are few greater joys than seeing where the guy who brought you "Surviving Christmas" got his big break.

"Gone" & "Mystic River"
If you want to see a real movie about a former kidnapping victim taking the law into his own hands, look no further than Clint Eastwood's 2003 Boston-set acting all-star game. Tim Robbins and Sean Penn took home Oscars for their portrayals of boyhood friends dealing with the disappearance of Emmy Rossum.

Jennifer Aniston & Paul Rudd Reveal All In After Hours

There are many interesting facts about celebrities that won't be learned anywhere other than an MTV After Hours session. The same can be said during the latest "Would You Rather?" edition of MTV's hit segment featuring "Wanderlust" stars Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd. For instance, did you know that Aniston would totally be down to have sex with Megan Fox? Like, without hesitation. Also, where else are you going to see Rudd do a terrible Oprah Winfrey impression? Yes, these are the joys After Hours can provide for you.

Here's a taste of some of the other hard-hitting questions asked in the above video: Would Aniston rather have Justin Bieber or Robert Pattinson portray her in the biopic of her life? Would Rudd rather have sex with Betty White or George Clooney? And would Aniston rather pee or fart every time she laughs? The answers might surprise you. So what are you waiting for? I'm pretty sure we had you had "Aniston would totally be down to have sex with Megan Fox."

Lady Gaga Drops Tour Poster, Fashion Film

Lady Gaga is amping up her fans for the Born This Way Ball, set to kick off later this year. On Tuesday, she dropped a sketch of her gothic castle-themed stage design, and in the very early hours of Wednesday morning (February 8), she teased fans with a poster for the trek.

The black-and-white poster, which includes touches of neon purple and turquoise, features an omniscient image of Gaga, decked out in her full "BTW" horned look, looking down from the sky. Underneath, in a castle that looks an awful lot like the one from the tour sketch, Gaga, wearing a piano dress, hangs with a group of suit-wearing dudes. And, for those paying close enough attention, Zombie Boy even makes an appearance, peeking out from one of the castle windows.

In her long-simmering latest "Yo and I" fashion film, Gaga portrays her male alter ego, Jo Calderone. Jo smolders in the mini-film, smoking his way through it. Clips of Jo stripping (revealing Gaga's taped-down chest) are intercut with shots of Gaga done up in an S&M-type outfit, dancing and tossing her long blond hair. The same outfit is worn by other dancers also featured in the clip, directed by Inez and Vinoodh.

Along with all these developments Little Monsters have to be excited about, this Sunday, Mother Monster is up for a number of Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Born This Way and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Yo and I."

Are you excited for Lady Gaga's upcoming tour? Tell us below!

Chaos! Profanity! Wardrobe malfunctions! Don't miss Sway and James Montgomery live from the Grammys red carpet this Sunday, February 12, for a full three hours of mayhem, starting at 5 p.m. ET on MTV.com. And the fun doesn't end Sunday: MTV News has you covered until the Grammy hangover wears off!

Lady Gaga Responds To Born This Way Topping 'Pretentious Albums' List

Earlier this week, British music mag NME set out to determine the "10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever." The list includes (genuinely pretty terrible) conceptual fare like Kiss' Music From "The Elder," Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and, uh, Lady Gaga's Born This Way, which somehow bested all competitors to nab the #1 spot.

How? Well, as NME writer Priya Elan wrote, "On Born This Way, [Gaga] seemed to believe in her own hype, convinced she had a message to share. Cue an album of unwieldy 'anthems' that couldn't mask the fact that the fun had left the building." Elan singled out the thumping "Scheie" as BTW's most pretentious moment, adding, "Did electroclash die for this?"

Snap. As you'd probably expect, those jabs had Gaga's Little Monsters on the offensive, and they launched an all-out attack on Elan in the comments section of NME's website. But Gaga herself remained above the fray ? for a while, anyway.

On Thursday night, she took to her Twitter account to hit back at NME, a publication that's certainly been no stranger to charges of pretentiousness over the years.

"Oh the irony of winning 'Most Pretentious Album Ever' from none other than NME. *Eye roll,*" Gaga wrote. "I might laugh forever [and] then return to narcissism."

Double snap. Having sufficiently eye-rolled her way through the situation, there's been no further comment from Gaga about the list.

NME, of course, has since turned the exchange into a separate story, one which, for whatever reason (word count?), includes recent comments Gaga made about bulimia ... and spaghetti. *Eye roll.*

Oscars 2012: All-Time Most Controversial Winners

Not every Academy Awards winner is met with praise and cinematic glory. Some past winners have come as surprises and even major disappointments to the audience, and among these, a handful will go down in history as outright injustices.

Though a surprise victory on Oscar night can be thrilling, it can also deeply upset the viewers at home who've picked their favorites. As we gear up for the 2012 Oscars, here's a look back at some of the most controversial wins in Academy Awards history.

"How Green Was My Valley" Upsets "Citizen Kane" (Best Picture)
Even though "Citizen Kane" has been touted as the greatest American movie of all time by the American Film Institute, back in 1942, it couldn't even win the Academy Award as the year's Best Picture. John Ford's tale of a family struggling to make ends meet in a Welsh mining town beat Orson Welles' masterpiece to take the honors and become the foremost example of Oscar injustice.

"Ordinary People" Upsets "Raging Bull" (Best Picture)
It upsets people when the film they feel is the best of year doesn't win the top prize on Oscar night, but when the supposed film of the decade doesn't win in its respective year, that's a thing of controversy. Martin Scorsese's gem about troubled boxer Jake LaMotta earned Robert De Niro an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1981, but Robert Redford's family drama took the top honor. "Ordinary People" has since gone down in history as the film that stole the Oscar from the best movie of the 1980s.

Marisa Tomei Wins for "My Cousin Vinny" (Best Supporting Actress)
One of the most famous Oscar controversies in recent years came at the 1993 ceremony, when Jack Palance presented the award for Best Supporting Actress to Marisa Tomei. Many theorized Palance had misread the card, mistakenly giving the Oscar to Tomei. In the years since, the actress has gone on to earn two additional Academy Awards nominations.

"Shakespeare in Love" Upsets "Saving Private Ryan" (Best Picture)
The film that ushered in the era of Miramax domination in the awards scene, "Shakespeare in Love," stole away Oscar glory from the one pegged as the odds-on favorite. Steven Spielberg's sprawling World War II epic was heavily favored heading into the 1999 Academy Awards, and even though Spielberg took home the award for directing, many still hold onto the disappointment from the top category.

"Crash" Upsets "Brokeback Mountain" (Best Picture)
One of the best examples of the power of Best Picture backlash, the 2006 Academy Awards saw the tides turn away from Ang Lee's tragic love story "Brokeback Mountain" and toward Paul Haggis' "Crash" in the weeks leading up to the ceremony. If you need to better understand the shock that occurred, go back and watch Jack Nicholson announce "Crash" as the winner, throw his hands up and say, "Wow."

Oscars Acceptance Speeches: The Best And The Worst

Delivering a good Oscar acceptance speech is not easy. If you over prepare, you seem arrogant, like you knew you were going to win all along, and if you aren't ready for your name to be called, you're almost certain to forget to thank your significant other or your film's director. Some Oscar winners suffer from a serious case of the sniffles and leave audiences unsure what they even said, while others go off on tangents that have nothing to do with movies at all.

In the end, though, it mostly just comes down to having that special something, that je ne sais quoi. And let's face it, you've either got it or you don't. Below are five stars we think nailed it when they were called onstage and five who, well, didn't exactly charm viewers' pants off on movies' biggest night.

Best
Cuba Gooding Jr., Best Supporting Actor, "Jerry Maguire" (1998)
Gooding's acceptance speech is basically an exercise in pure joy. The actor leapt to the stage and earnestly thanked just about everyone he's ever met, starting with his mother and God, and issued "I love you's" to "Maguire" co-star Tom Cruise, director Cameron Crowe and pretty much everyone else who worked on the film. His genuine enthusiasm captured the crowd and earned him a standing ovation.

Halle Berry, Best Actress, "Monsters Ball" (2002)
History was made when Berry won the Best Actress statue ? she was the first African American woman to claim the lead actress prize ? and she honored the moment with an emotional speech that she dedicated to "every nameless, faceless woman of color who now has a chance after tonight because this door has been opened." She thanked the actors and actresses of color who came before her and declared the moment "so much bigger" than herself. Her speech was an exercise in humility and surprise ? two things most Oscar acceptance speeches could benefit from.

Jennifer Hudson, Best Supporting Actress, "Dreamgirls" (2007)
Hudson's took home the Oscar for her very first film performance and delivered a simple acceptance speech that was probably most notable for how humble and truly surprised she seemed to hear her name called. Though she'd been a favorite throughout awards season that year, she seemed shocked when George Clooney announced that she'd won and stuttered and stumbled her way through her speech, but was sure to thank all those she needed to, from "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon and her co-stars to her family, friends and Jennifer Holliday, who originated the role of Effie White on Broadway.

Tom Hanks, Best Actor, "Philadelphia" (1994)
Hank's Oscar acceptance speech may well be the only one to have inspired a movie itself. His lengthy speech was marked by some traits we don't always love ? it certainly felt rehearsed ? but the actor's gratitude seemed genuine when he thanked his high school drama teacher, Rawley Farnsworth, as well as a former classmate, who he called "two of the finest gay Americans, two wonderful men." There was only one problem: Farnsworth was still in the closet about his sexuality. The slip of the lip inspired the 1997 film "In & Out," in which Kevin Kline plays a high school drama teacher outed when his former student (played by Matt Dillon) wins an Oscar. In a nice turn of events, the always lovely Joan Cusack earned an Oscar nomination herself playing Kline's jilted fiance in "In & Out."

Julia Roberts, Best Actress, "Erin Brockovich" (2001)
Then easily the world's biggest female movie star, a clearly nervous and deeply happy Roberts delivered a gracious ? and long ? speech that she wisely prefaced by asking the orchestra director, whom she referred to as "Stick Man," to sit on his baton. She burst out in fits of laughter throughout and charmed the audience with asides about her director Steven Soderbergh, then-boyfriend Benjamin Bratt and her co-stars and delivered what was maybe the most gracious "thank you" ever to the other women up for Best Actress that year: Joan Allen, Juliette Binoche, Ellen Burstyn and Laura Linney.

Worst
Marlon Brando, Best Actor, "The Godfather Part" (1973)
There are plenty of places for actors to make political statements, but the Oscars really isn't one of them. The film legend did not attend the 1973 Academy Awards and instead famously sent American Indian rights activist "Sacheen Littlefeather," nee Marie Cruz, in his place with a 15-page statement to read onstage if he won the prize ? which he did. An Academy Awards producer intercepted her backstage and threatened to have her physically removed if she spoke for longer than 60 seconds, so when Littlefeather stepped onstage to accept Brando's prize, she waved the Oscar away and gave an off-the-cuff speech about the Wounded Knee Incident.

The incident inspired the Academy to alter its rules to not permit proxies to accept Oscar trophies.

Adrien Brody, Best Actor, "The Pianist" (2003)
Some loved Brody's enthusiastic speech while others took great issue with his onstage behavior. When the actor reached the stage to accept his prize, the first thing he did was sweep Halle Berry up into his arms and plant a passionate kiss on the clearly shocked actress's lips. While it seemed mostly harmless and Berry was a good sport about the ordeal, many thought it inappropriate as he clearly did not have her consent before kissing her.

James Cameron, Best Director, "Titanic" (1998)
The only word to sum up Cameron's Best Director speech is "arrogant." Throughout his otherwise inoffensive speech, the director seemed imbued with the confidence of a man who knew the prize was his before his name was even called, which is fine and dandy and probably not all that overreaching, as his film was widely acclaimed and well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film ever. However, his decision to conclude with one of the film's most famous lines ? "I'm king of the world"? left a sour taste in the mouths of viewers.

Angelina Jolie, Best Supporting Actress, "Girl, Interrupted" (2000)
Everything about Angelina Jolie's Oscar evening the night of her win was, well, kind of weird. Not only was the drop-dead-gorgeous actress dressed like Morticia Adams, she brought her brother, James Haven Voight, as her date and the pair acted a little too close for comfort on the red carpet. They kissed and clung to each other and it was totally gross ... then she won the Best Supporting Actress prize and thanked her bro, saying, "I'm just so in love with my brother right now." The whole thing was awkward and the incident haunted the actress for years, until her tabloid drama with current partner Brad Pitt and her humanitarian work on behalf of refugees finally overshadowed the strange behavior.

Michael Moore, Best Documentary Feature, "Bowling For Columbine" (2003)
Like Brando, Moore used the Oscars as a political forum and it was just as inappropriate when he did it. Moore scored the documentary prize for "Columbine," a powerful film about gun violence in America, but rather than thank those who helped him make the important doc, he used the stage to express his disdain for President George W. Bush and his disagreement with the decision to invade Iraq. "We are against this war, Mr. Bush," Moore chastised. "Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you." No, shame on Michael Moore for using the Oscars as a soap box when they are supposed to be a celebration of film.

Amanda Seyfried Is 'No-Holds-Barred' In 'Gone'

Amanda Seyfried has been stepping outside the proverbial box recently with her roles in films. The last time we caught up with the "Mean Girls" and "Mamma Mia!" star, she was fighting the Man with Justin Timberlake in the sci-fi thriller "In Time," and this week, she has us on the edge of our seats in the suspense thriller "Gone."

The film revolves around recent kidnapping victim Jill Parrish (Seyfried), who is still trying to get over a series of harrowing, inexplicable events that occurred a year earlier, when she claimed she was kidnapped and buried in a hole in a ground. When Jill comes home from work one evening to find her sister missing, she is convinced that the same kidnapper has returned to torture her once more.

Unfortunately for Jill, the people around her think she's crazy, including the local police, and Jill has to take matters into her own hands to try to find her sister before something truly terrible happens. The story is told in such a way to keep the audience wondering if Seyfried's character is really crazy and if the one police officer who believes her is actually the killer.

When MTV News caught up with Seyfried recently, she revealed that she enjoys playing up the paranoid aspects of a femme fatale, but also explained exactly why Jill isn't your run-of-the-mill damsel in distress.

"She's just the girl-next-door kind of character, and it kind of makes you realize that anyone is capable of anything if they put their mind to it," Seyfried said. "She has no choice but to go in the direction of the serial killer, because he has her sister, and it's a no-holds-barred really strong female character."

'Cosmopolis' Isn't For 'Team Edward Girls,' Jay Baruchel Says

David Cronenberg's next film, "Cosmopolis," may have won MTV's Movie Brawl thanks to the support of die-hard Robert Pattinson fans, but one of his co-stars told MTV News the film will be far from what Twilighters are expecting.

While promoting "Goon," a film he stars in and co-wrote, Jay Baruchel shared his experiences working for a short period of time on the Manhattan set of "Cosmopolis." Unfortunately for the Pattinson fans out there, according to Baruchel, Cronenberg's next movie might be too strange for them.

"An exceedingly strange movie," Baruchel said, describing "Cosmopolis." "All the Team Edward girls won't be seeing this one, I don't think."

For Baruchel, working with Cronenberg ? who made a name for himself with horror films ? was a dream come true. "Basically, it was that Cronenberg is a hero of mine. I'm a Canadian boy. I love horror. That's all I want to do," Baruchel said. "If you're a Canadian horror fan, Cronenberg's the Holy Grail."

The opportunity for Baruchel came about in a rather mundane way, but his reaction to it was anything but. "I was in Manhattan last year, keeping my lady company, and they called up and were like, 'Hey, do you want to do two days on this new Cronenberg?' I said, 'Yep!' 'Wait, wait. We'll send you the script.' I couldn't care less; what I'm playing is a means to an end. I just want to go and film-nerd-out about 'Videodrome' with him for two days."

The actual experience of working with Cronenberg did not disappoint. "Not only did I get to go and be a fly on the wall for two days and watch one of my heroes do his thing, I actually had the pleasure being directed by him," Baruchel said. "Coolest thing ever."

Check out everything we've got on "Cosmopolis."

Check out everything we've got on "Gone."

'Harry Potter' Snubbed By Oscars, But Not By Nerds!

The Oscars might be the biggest night of the year in Hollywood, but it'll lack a whole lot of magic thanks to the Academy's regrettable decision to to snub "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2." The conclusion to the "Potter" saga was more than deserving of a Best Picture nomination at the very least, if not a full-scale win. So, in our small way of compensating, we honored the fallen "Potter" film (as well as a bunch of 2011's other nerd-friendly movies) in this week's edition of Talk Nerdy. Check it out in the video below!

Oscars 2012: Our Biggest Burning Questions

In the days leading up to Sunday's Academy Awards, the night's six biggest categories have clear favorites. But many of our burning questions remain unanswered. Even without the potential for surprises built into the major races, there's still plenty left to leave us speechless.

Here are our biggest burning questions heading into Oscar night:

How big will "The Artist" be?
At this point, few can really doubt that the ode to silent film is going to win, and it's going to win big. With Best Picture more or less locked for "The Artist," only one question remains: How many statuettes will it take home? Its star Jean Dujardin is poised to take Best Actor and Michel Hazanavicius should take Best Director, since that award tends to precede Best Picture. But the film has many nominations in technical categories that are still undecided.

Will the Muppets surprise?
Soon after Eddie Murphy stepped down as host, an internet campaign gained steam supporting the Muppets hot off their big-screen comeback as replacements. The Academy ultimately went with Billy Crystal for the hosting gig, but a nomination for the song "Man or Muppet" gave fans hope for a big musical number during the ceremony. Alas, neither it nor its sole competitor, "Real in Rio," will get live performances, but the Muppets could surprise with an appearance bigger than their scheduled presentation.

Is "A Separation" a lock for foreign film?
With a screenwriting nomination to its credit, the Iranian film stands far in the lead for Best Foreign Language Film, but bigger upsets have occurred. "The Lives of Others" stole the thunder of Guillermo del Toro's "Pan's Labyrinth," and "The Secret in Their Eyes" beat out both "A Prophet" and "The White Ribbon." This could be a favorite that may face a disappointing surprise.

Who will end the "In Memoriam" montage?
Based on prestige, the honor goes to Elizabeth Taylor, who died a month after last year's ceremony. Buzz and tragedy levels say it will go to Whitney Houston. One should not forget Steve Jobs, whose involvement with Pixar certainly qualifies him for a mention, but may be too tangential to be included. It's a morbid question, but one people genuinely wonder about.

How will Billy Crystal do?
As a last minute stand-in for Murphy, the Academy Awards' second most experience host is getting another shot after eight years away from the gig. But will his usual Oscar routine be enough to hold the audience's attention after all these years? The day-after assessment of hosts usually amounts to a thumb up or a thumb down, but where Crystal will land after his ninth outing remains to be seen.

Johnny Depp Joins Edgar Wright For 'Night Stalker'

It looks like Johnny Depp and Edgar Wright may be teaming up to hunt the supernatural in Disney's adaptation of two 1970's telepics and the ABC series "Kolchak: The Night Stalker."

Deadline reports that Depp would potentially star as Carl Kolchak in "The Night Stalker." He's a hardboiled reporter who tackles stories that law enforcement doesn't want to touch. Most of the cases in the original tales involved monstrous creatures like vampires and zombies, but Kolchak also explored the dark world of witches and other occult mysteries. With the "Shaun of the Dead" director usually having a hand in the writing side of his projects, it'd be great to see Disney hand this responsibility over to Wright. No scribe has been named yet, though. The quirky stylings of the director and Depp should be fascinating to watch.

While we anticipate more news about this inspired collaboration, head past the break for a look at the rest of this week's horror news.

Popular Manga Tale 'Bleach' Getting American Adaptation
Fans of Tite Kubo's manga/anime tale "Bleach" will be seeing an American adaptation from Warner Bros. soon. The studio has acquired the rights to the story and is setting "Wrath of the Titans" scribe Dan Mazeau to the task of revamping it. The film will follow teen Ichigo who can see ghosts. A malevolent spirit known as a Hollow attacks his family, and the young man becomes a Hollow hunter ? dedicating his life to protecting the innocent and helping tortured souls find peace in the afterlife. The popular story has been adapted for videogames, trading cards, musicals, and more. Can Warner Bros. find the right combination of the supernatural, action, and comedy to create a worthy remake? Will the casting of this one be another "Akira?"

The 'Demonologist' Fights Fiends from Hell
"Back to the Future" director Robert Zemeckis has found his new producing project in "Demonologist." Universal snatched up the story, which comes from a novel written by Andrew Pyper. It follows a professor who has been studying the epic John Milton poem "Paradise Lost." He accepts a free trip to Italy, but while there a demonic spirit "appears to kill his daughter." The professor embarks on a dark journey to save her from the wicked entities. Will the studio play it safe and make this the next "Da Vinci Code," or will they bring on the horror in full force?

Vampires on a Plane in 'Night Wings'
We've had "Snakes on a Plane," but get ready for vamps traveling the friendly skies. THR is reporting that a "Fright Night-esque" story is on the way from Ember Entertainment. The company has been granted distribution rights for "Night Wings." When a 12-year-old boy takes a redeye flight, he soon discovers that there are bloodsucking vampires all around him. He tries to convince the crew that the vamps are on-board from Romania, but only one passenger believes him. The guy also happens to be a mourning father, seeking revenge against the vamp clan. Syfy writer Paul Birkett and visual effects producer Dusan Strugar are working on this one ? which hopefully means these vampires will actually be of the terrifying variety and not the romantic version we've been getting a lot of lately.

Disney Makes a Creature Feature
Disney and the writer behind fright flicks like "The Ring" and "Scream 4" are teaming up for a creature feature. The Mickey Mouse studio has wanted to create a project associated with their theme park ride, The Matterhorn. They're aiming for an adventure story and have given the job to first-time director Brian Beletic. Justin Springer ("Tron Legacy") will be producing. Five adventure seekers ? including a travel guide, a cartographer, an escape artist, an extreme sports enthusiast, and an archeologist ? head to the Alps "for mysterious reasons" and face a group of yetis (think mountain dwelling Bigfoot creatures) guarding a secret. Yetis make everything better, so here's hoping Disney allows its team to play up the gnarly beastie angle.
